Join the Guides Association of New York City in celebrating the 400th anniversary of the Dutch settlement of New Amsterdam. This milestone recognizes the significance of New York City to the United States and the world. We are offering a variety of historical tours of NYC, highlighting the many, many FIRSTS that all started here!
GANYC members are offering a series of free walking tours on Saturday, October 25, to celebrate the 400th anniversary of New York City. As we celebrate 400 of firsts, we remember that tour guides are the professionals who help keep our city's history alive!
Registration is required. Here is the list of tours:
10:15am: The Audubon Bird Mural Project
10:30am: Exploring the Upper West Side: From 116th to 103rd Streets
11am: When New York Was Nieuw Amsterdam
11am: Abraham Lincoln in New York City
11am: The Meatpacking District & The High Line
11am: Hidden Harlem Tour
1:30pm: Public Art Walking Tour in Lower Manhattan
3pm: Exploring the Brooklyn Bridge & DUMBO: A Walk Through NYC History
4pm: Flatiron District History Tour
6pm: Night Photography Tour of the Financial District

We invite you to participate and send your video greetings to New York City in celebration. We would love people from around the world to send a short greeting to New York City, wishing it a Happy 400th Anniversary. The videos will be posted on the GANYC Social Media entities: Facebook, Instagram, YouTube (maybe more).

For the General Public:
1. Keep it short. We would love for the greetings to be between 15 and 45 seconds
2. Include your name and where you are from
3. Send it to us at NYC400@ganyc.org
4. Include your username on Instagram, etc. so we can tag you!
5. Include hashtags -- where are you from, interests (#sports, #pizza, etc)
6. Once it is live, feel free to share and invite others
